Since 2019, Lake Victoria has experienced rising water levels that have caused significant flooding impacts on the lake shoreline communities in East Africa. As a response strategy, the Directorate of Water Resources Management (DWRM) authorized an increase in water releases through Nalubaale and Kiira dam complex in Jinja. Due to the increased discharge of water, there was increased erosion of the river banks downstream of both dams. MEIR undertake detailed hydrological studies, scour computations and detailed design of proposed river restoration and embarkment slope protection measures.
