  • Development of the Transboundary Integrated Flood Management Plan and Assessment of the Unyama/Ame River Catchment at Elegu-Nimule Border between South Sudan and Uganda

The World Bank through the International Development Association (IDA) is supporting the Nile Basin Initiative (NBI), through its implementing arms NELSAP, to implement Phase I of the Regional Climate Resilience Program for Eastern and Southern Africa. The programme aims to strengthen the resilience of populations to climate-related shocks in the region through a series of integrated interventions focused on flood management and climate adaptation.

Under this framework, CDR in association with MEIR are assessing the flooding situation and catchment characteristics at the Elegu-Nimule border, conducting detailed flood risk analyses, identifying and evaluating potential flood management interventions, preparing the Transboundary Integrated Flood Management Plan, and developing terms of reference for the selected interventions to enhance flood resilience and cross-border water management.
